YES programs are not just for the young, but for the young at heart! In partnership with Elderhostel we offer a wide range of activities for people ages 55 and up. The Elderhostel catalogue includes a full listing of their events.

Most of the Elderhostel programs at YES are based out of our Swann Lodge facility in the heart of the Berkshires. Located in Monterey MA, Swann Lodge sits in Beartown State Forest and is convenient to all of nature's beauty that Western Mass. has to offer.

Elderhostel combines the best traditions of education and hosteling in a program designed for older adults. Inspired by the youth hostels and folk schools of Europe, and guided by the needs of older adults seeking new experiences and personal enrichment, Elderhostel is based on the belief that retirement does not mean withdrawal from meaningful activity, and that the later years are an opportunity to enjoy new challenges.

Most Elderhostel programs at YES are one week in length. Participants take up to three non-credit courses while living comfortably at Swann Lodge. Programs focus on a wide range of liberal arts-and-sciences subjects, often drawing on unique local and regional features and resources.

Programs also often include a variety of extracurricular activities, field trips and cultural events. Jazz and Classical events at nearby Tanglewood are a perennial favorite!
