PROGRAM OPERATIONS ASSISTANT
Youth Enrichment Services (YES) is a progressive youth development organization serving urban youth ages 7-18. Ideal candidates for the Program Operations Assistant position are flexible, organized, and able to work with diverse populations. YES is seeking individual with energy, drive, love of nature and outdoors, professionalism, computer skills, customer service skills, strong leadership, and youth development experience. Ideal candidates will want to develop hands-on outdoor programming and operations experience. The position is 32 hour per week.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Outdoor Trip Leader (12-15 hours)
- Lead weekend Operation SnowSports (skin and snowboard) trips to various New England mountains. Monitor bus travel, open/close the YES office pre-and-post trip, check in with ski patrols, distribute lift tickets, delegate youth classes to volunteers, and conduct overall group management. Training is provided.
- Serve as a mentor to children and teens on trips.
- Adhere to Leave No Trace principles during programs. Educate participants about this philosophy.
- Responsible for participants’ emotional and physical safety.
- Provide first aid/health care on trips, if necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service to youth and families. Be courteous and eloquent at all times.
Shop Tech (10 hours)
- Assist in the management, inventory and processing of retail and rental equipment for YES outdoor activities.
- Assist in the maintenance and testing of rental equipment.
- Assist in the maintenance and organization of the YES facility.
Administrative Support (5-7 hours)
- Assist in the management of youth and family database.
- Assist in the planning and coordinating of outdoor youth development activities.
- Assist in communicating to youth and families.
- Attend all staff meetings, seminars and trainings as requested.
- Assist in the development and analysis of program surveys and evaluations.
Background: Athletic Training, Education, Environmental Science, Health Science, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work
Desired Skills: First Aid / CPR, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Problem Solving, Research and Development, Survey and Mapping, Telephone Skills, Training/Tutoring, Verbal Communication Skills, Written Communication Skills
