Outdoor Experiential Learning Manager
This is a position for a motivational team leader dedicated to youth development created through inclusive adventure and confidence-building opportunities in the outdoors. The ideal candidate is an experienced supervisor and manager with strong judgment, decision-making, and organizational skills. This position oversees year-round outdoor adventure programming for youth and ensures that all activities are safe and engaging. Directly supervised by the Director of Programs & Operations. This is an in-person position.
This is a full-time, in-person position (40 hours/ week with benefits). Applications will be accepted throughout May 2024 or until position is filled. Activity Captain – Track & Field Coordinator
This is a position for a highly enthusiastic, energized, safety-conscious adult who is well organized, understands sports-based youth development, and has strong interpersonal skills. This is a part-time position: approximately 10-15 hours per week Monday-Thursday evenings 5:30-7:30 PM, during late June-August. Programming takes place at Moakley Park in South Boston (Mondays and Thursdays) and English High School (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in Jamaica Plain. There may be other off-site track meets or administrative activities required.
Responsibilities:
- Set up an age-appropriate track and field schedule of activities
- Organize developmental track meets (as needed)
- Support check-in/out, survey and snack distribution
- Oversee set-up and breakdown of the track and field areas
- Facilitate communication to families and volunteers as needed
- Ensure sufficient number of coaches on site each session for the safety of the youth and volunteers. Follow-ups with coaches on attendance.
- Supervise adult volunteer coaches and teen staff (assistant coaches)
- Support and represent our organization and youth at city wide meets
- Fill in as a “Roving Coach” at each practice, wherever help is needed

Outdoor Adventure Activity Captain (Spring)
This is a position for a highly enthusiastic, energized, safety-conscious adult who is well organized, understands sports-based youth development, and has strong interpersonal skills. This is a part-time position working between 5 to 20 hours per week. Programming supports strategic partnerships throughout Boston both during the week and on occasional weekends. Activities include hiking, biking, indoor rock climbing, canoeing and kayaking from April – June.
Responsibilities:
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for youth to try outdoor activities and build confidence
- Support the completion of activity day materials and paperwork
- Provide direct service to Outdoor Adventure programs including biking, hiking paddling, and rock climbing
- Supervise adult and teen volunteers, parents, chaperones, and youth
- Act as the liaison between community partners and YES on day of program
- Build trusting relationships, ensure the safety of participants, and engage adults and youth

Outdoor Adventure Activity Captain (Summer)
This is a position for a highly enthusiastic, energized, safety-conscious adult who is well organized, understands sports-based youth development, and has strong interpersonal skills. This is a seasonal position working up to 40 hours per week from June to August and includes overnight requirements. Activities include hiking, biking, indoor rock climbing, canoeing and kayaking.
Responsibilities:
- Co-lead the YES Outdoor Adventure summer camp programs for youth ages 8-13, including day camp activities and overnights
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for youth to try new activities and build confidence, including biking, hiking, paddle sports, rock climbing, etc.
- Lead a structured program day that includes, morning circle, travel to the activity destination, safety talks, games, team builders and reflection activities
- Supervise and role-model for teen staff working in the field
- Follow all camp policies and procedures and complete required staff trainings
- Provide first aid and administer approved medications as authorized by the Health Care Consultant
- Prepare and reset space for each program day
- Act as the YES liaison between outdoor adventure partner organizations and YES for scheduling and communication
- Build trusting relationships, ensure the safety of participants, and engage youth and staff

AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellow – College & Career Prep Fellow
The Mass Promise Fellow College & Career Prep Fellow at Youth Enrichment Services (YES) will sustain and expand YES’s College Preparation Program. The Fellow will serve 11th-12th grade students with college and career workshops, leadership development & social emotional learning workshops, college tours, experiential learning projects, and one-on-one advising. The Fellow will cover topics including study skills, academic and extracurricular planning, the college application process, financial aid planning, and transitioning from high school to college. The role encompasses direct service, capacity building, and curriculum development.
Responsibilities:
- Youth Program Facilitation: lead and support inclusive and equitable youth programming for youth from diverse backgrounds; build positive, safe environments and relationships with youth
- Youth Mentorship: provide youth with one-on-one support, facilitate goal setting, benchmarks, support transition from YES program participant to youth leader and from middle school to high school student.
- College & Career Prep: plan college tours both locally and throughout New England, work with the YES Academy and Scholarship committee to ensure all seniors are applying for YES’ Richard Williams Memorial Scholarship, build relationships with local organizations that specialize in college/career prep
- Alumni Engagement: connect YES alumni currently attending college and YES adult volunteer network through school visits, college and career panels, and informal mentoring sessions
- Time & Project Management: prioritize tasks, manage time, and meet deadlines while remaining flexible in a fast-paced work environment
- Communication & Collaboration: communicate effectively and appropriately, collaborate in a professional setting
- MPF Commitment: complete MPF data and evaluation requirements, travel at least once per month for Fellowshipmeetings, retreats, and training throughout the Commonwealth, and make a full-time, 10.5 month commitment
